We have a saying around here that \u201cmiddle school is not a building\u201d and we also believe that classrooms do not have to be rooms. <\/span>There are so many benefits to being outside for humans\u2019 wellbeing and for students\u2019 learning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Outdoor and place-based learning are tightly connected with so many other things we hold dear. Understanding our place in the wider outdoor world is important for building <\/span>community<\/span><\/a> together and for students to explore their <\/span>identity<\/span><\/a>. The outdoors are a great place for engaging in <\/span>reflection<\/span><\/a> , while thinking deeply about our relationship with the environment and the legacies of a place are powerful ingredients for <\/span>equity<\/span><\/a>. And so many fabulous <\/span>project based learning<\/span><\/a> experiences take place in part or fully outside.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
