What will you be doing this summer for professional development?<\/h1>\n

\"2016<\/p>\n

Join middle school educators from around Vermont for a week of intensive PD specific to the challenges and triumphs of educating young adolescents.\u00a0The 2016 Middle Grades Institute will run Monday, June 27 through 5pm Friday, July 1 at Castleton University in Castleton Vermont. Accommodations are provided in the cost of registration, but residency is not mandatory.<\/p>\n

It’s like summer camp, but for adults and you get support with teaching middle grades students.<\/h3>\n

The Institute will offer eight different strands under the theme of Flexible Pathways for Young Adults.<\/p>\n

The eight strands are:<\/p>\n

  1. Middle Grades Organization<\/li>\n
  2. Middle Grades Curriculum<\/li>\n
  3. Embedded Literacy in Middle Grades<\/li>\n
  4. Brain-Based Education for Young Adolescents<\/li>\n
  5. Middle School is Not a Building<\/li>\n
  6. Middle Grades Learners and Technology<\/li>\n
  7. Personalized Learning in the Middle Grades<\/li>\n
  8. Flexible Pathways for the Middle Grades<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    You can find out more about the eight different strands here.\u00a0Participating in the Middle Grades Institute also provides you with the option of earning graduate credit.<\/p>\n

    The Middle Grades Institute is hosted by the Middle Grades Collaborative, a partnership between the Tarrant Institute and faculty at Saint Michael’s College, Johnston State College and Castleton University.<\/p>\n
