Hooper discussed her background in teaching both students and adults how to construct projects using the tiny microcontrollers, her journey from arduino-learner to educator, then schooled me&nbsp;on gender essentialism* in tech-based learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Did I mention we were locked in a bathroom at the Generator?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Never let your travel microphones out of your sight, people. You can use them to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/Temperature-Control-For-Kitchen-Appliances\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">control temperatures<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/Blinky-Lights-using-Arduino-and-LumiGeek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">turn lights on and off<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/Robotic-Arm-with-Servo-Motors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">power motors<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/The-Arduino-Synthesizer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">play music<\/a> or do just about anything you can imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This past fall, I took Hooper&#8217;s introduction to arduino course through the Generator in downtown Burlington.
