Here\u2019s a few to help keep you occupied:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>First, some news at of Kansas, as that <a href=\"http:\/\/ncse.com\/news\/2014\/12\/lawsuit-over-ngss-dismissed-0016025\">Lawsuit over NGSS has been dismissed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For a topic of specific concern here in Vermont, consider <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/education\/archive\/2014\/11\/the-challenge-of-being-a-rural-science-teacher\/382309\/\">The Challenge of Teaching Science in Rural America<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bring one of the top movies of 2014 (even <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/neiltyson\">NDT<\/a> liked it) with <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160317120153\/https:\/\/interstellar.withgoogle.com\/for-educators\">Interstellar in the Classroom<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Or perhaps <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20180623195729\/http:\/\/chrisemdin.com:80\/science-genius\/\">Hip-hop and science education<\/a> is more your speed.<\/p>\n<p>These are both examples in the trend of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/11\/02\/education\/edlife\/putting-art-in-stem.html?_r=0\">Putting Art in STEM<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a good post on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/wgbh\/nova\/blogs\/education\/2014\/10\/how-student-engagement-facilitates-stem-interest\/\">How Student Engagement Facilitates STEM Interest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking for a research article that brings out the importance of middle grades science teachers, you will want to file away <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/rmle_vol35_no9.pdf\">Effective Science Instruction: Impact on High-Stakes Assessment Performance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For a critical perspective, ponder: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/education\/archive\/2014\/12\/is-the-us-focusing-too-much-on-stem\/383353\/\">Is the U.S. Focusing Too Much on STEM?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And from the business perspective: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/business\/archive\/2013\/09\/why-the-s-in-stem-is-overrated\/279931\/\">Why the S in STEM Is Overrated<\/a> (This one gets me &#8211; they ignore the methods of rational investigation that are built up through science education, and ignore that there is no \u201cT\u201d or \u201cE\u201d without the preliminary and supporting science\u2026)<\/p>\n<p>Finally, some awesome local news: <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150320063959\/http:\/\/www.mychamplainvalley.com\/story\/d\/story\/local-high-schoolers-robot-wins-rookie-of-the-year\/39300\/GB8esl4o5kWY-3DGY0BLdg\">Local High Schooler&#8217;s Robot Wins &#8220;Rookie of the Year&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I hope everyone has\u00a0a relaxing and reflective break.
