Activity that involves Ss &amp; elevates their status alongside Ts <a href=\"http:\/\/t.co\/DkTFAF1jDD\">pic.twitter.com\/DkTFAF1jDD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tarrant Institute (@innovativeEd) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/innovativeEd\/status\/649319276332077058\">September 30, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>Dr Nelson spoke about how student voice as a concept has evolved from treating students as &#8220;consultants&#8221; to treating them as &#8220;participants&#8221; in the educational process, through to how they are now, in some classrooms, considered &#8220;partners&#8221;. But, she stressed, there is still a long way to go.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\"><p>We might think we&#8217;re having the same conversation, but when our definitions are diff, how can we? -Emily Nelson on varying defs of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/stuvoice?src=hash\">#stuvoice<\/a> \u2014 Alex Shevrin (@shevtech) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/shevtech\/status\/649318080376647680\">September 30, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>Dr Nelson pointed out that the United Nations recognizes the right of children to be heard, and that makes respecting students&#8217; views a legal obligation within education systems.<\/p>\n<p>Lecture attendees had the option of scanning a QR code to access a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/padlet.com\" target=\"_blank\">padlet<\/a>, shown below, to which they added their ideas for how to incorporate student voice more authentically in their work.
